District Ignition's weekly Friday party is starting up again at a new club called Muse, in Chinatown, Washington, DC, with a focus on underground nu disco, tech house, and up and coming sounds. I had been falling in love with tech house all over again when I made this mix, and with our new party starting on November 13 with guest DJ's Icey and AC Slater, I figured now was as good a time as any put his deep techy house mix on the internet.

Trance Guest Mix for Tavo Muzik Podcast 003 - August 2009

Christauff Live on the CUE Radio Show broadcast on WMUC 88.1FM (2009-05-13)

If you attend the University of Maryland, College Park, you probably have listened to WMUC, the radio station there. The CUE Radio show is every Wednesday night, from 10pm - 12am, on 88.1FM. Wait! You probably can't listen to it, sorry, unless you live within a mile or two radius of the campus. Thankfully, they faithfully record all of their shows, and I played for them on May 13, 2009 (my third appearance on the show). Here is the mix I did for Carter Hickman and Paul Guevara, the hosts of this 100% EDM all-the-time show featuring "Live Guest Mixes from some of DC's best club DJs."

District Ignition Podcast #60: Who's Out There

I've been buying more techy trax for a while, and this will show you what WMC 2009 brought to the table.

Basically, like every year, I lived on peer-to-peer networks, bittorrent sites, and Beatport, Beatsdigital and Stompy to hear the new tracks coming out that producers have been saving up for the spring.

Then I bought about 70 tracks. I've been listening to them since the beginning of April and put this little mix together for the District Ignition Podcast, Episode #60. For Love Of House featured this mix on their website on April 15th!

April Fool (April 2009)

Something a little harder... That's what I wanted to accomplish with this mix. I also decided to add a tracked version you can burn using the accompanying CUE file.

Basically, it's a "mainly-techno" mix that starts off progressive, and I guaranty that my techno, hipster, purist friends might disagree, but when someone gives me a better description, I'll change this page. Melodic and what I hope is very danceable--a way to shift gears from the previous mix which was a little more laid back...

District Ignition Podcast 54: Transitioning (February 2009)

I started buying EDM artist albums again, recently, regardless of genre--in addition to the usual singles purchases. Over a few months, it's changed how I mix and what I buy for the club. In many ways I've gotten back to what made me fall in love with dance music. This mix starts off with some deep house and moves into minimal house then crescendos into progressive trancy house. I named it Transitioning (Direct 320kbs VBR link), as it moves among different genres and also shows how my musical tastes are evolving.
